Chelsey Horton
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) in Maryland. I am dedicated to providing exceptional mental health care, drawing from both professional and personal experiences. My background in human services and social work make for a compassionate and authentic therapeutic experience.
I began my academic journey at Towson University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Family and Human Services. I then went on to obtain a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from University of Maryland Baltimore, School of Social Work. My passion for mental health and wellness has been a driving force since my early years.
My professional journey spans various settings, and I have had the privilege of working with older adults across multiple settings including outpatient mental health centers, retirement communities, nursing homes, and community-based organizations. Throughout my career, I have gained valuable knowledge, quality experience, and extensive skills. I have successfully worked with clients facing anxiety and mood disorders, depression, PTSD, life transitions, and relationship issues.
My diverse experiences enable me to address the unique needs of each client while fostering a supportive and inclusive therapeutic environment. With over 10 years of experience in mental health and advocacy, I have a deepening understanding of the multifaceted challenges older adults and vulnerable populations face.
How would you describe your approach to care?
My approach is warm, collaborative, and empathetic as I cater to each individual's unique needs, goals, and desires. I believe that a trusting relationship and great rapport is the basis of all quality treatment. We will work together to navigate life transitions, challenges, and concerns. My goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and empowered through supportive conversation as you make meaningful changes to your life.
What should be expected in the first session?
In our first session, I will take a client-centered approach to foster a safe and comfortable environment for us to get to know one another, discuss what brings you to therapy, and to explore your needs and desires. My priority is to ensure that you feel safe, respected, and heard as we begin this journey together at your own pace.
